DESCRIPTION
5-HTP (5-Hydroxtryptophan) is a naturally occuring chemical compound in the human body and in the seeds of an African plant called Griffonia simplicifolia. In the human body, it is an important intermediate step in the metabolism pathway of serotonin, and supplementing with 5-HTP may help promote nomral levels of serotonin.* Serotonin is a chemical in the brain (neurotransmitter) that promotes healthy moods, appetites, and sleep patterns.* Many lifestyle factors can cause our serotonin levels to drop, such as stress, poor diet, lack of exercise, environmental toxins, caffeine, and alcohol.* When serotonin levels are out of balance, we may experience normal mood swings, appetite changes, and sleep patterns shifts.*
