Guarana (Paullinia cupana) grows wild in the Amazon region of Brazil and most commercial product is now grown on government plantations where only the highest quality plants are harvested. The Guarana fruit, when ripe, turns red or yellow, yielding a round black seed. Guarana is a stimulating tonic with 10% Guranine (caffeine) and a natural balance of the other xanthines: Theobronind and Theophylline.* Guaranine, a stimulant of the nervous system, and Theophylline and Theobromine, which have relaxant and diuretic properties are the three main ingredients of Guarana.* Gurana has been used by the Brazilian Indians as a general tonic for the body and a source of energy.* Guarana also acts on the nervous system and the muscle system to prevent fatigue.*
