DESCRIPTION
Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra L.) of the Fabaceae family, has been used for flavoring both food and medicine for centuries, but it also is a
useful dietary supplement in its own right. Licorice root contains a glycoside (glycyrrhizin), flavonoids, asparagine, isoflavonoids,
chalcones, and coumarins. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) is used because it is safer on the blood pressure levels than regular extracts of licorice.* Licorice has a demulcent action on the intestinal lining and the bronchial tubes, increasing the production of mucus, which helps with the detoxification process.* This helps promote gastrointestinal health, as well.* Licorice and DGL both have mild stool forming promoting effects.* Licorice also can help promote normal inflammation.* Licorice also is used for adrenal support.*
