DESCRIPTION

NAG (N-Acetyl-Glucosamine) belongs to a class of compounds called amino sugars. NAG is found in many different body components including: tendons, ligaments, cartilage, skin, heart valves, and the eyes.* NAG composes the cellular cement that holds individual cells together to form tissues and organs.* Amino sugars, such as NAG, are important in the intestines since they form the protective mucus layer and the cellular cement that regulates intestinal permeability.* Ordinarily the body makes NAG from glucose, glutamic acid, and acetate groups, but under circumstances of poor diet and the normal aging process the body may benefit with NAG supplementation to support tissue functions.*
