DESCRIPTION Schisandra is a creeping vine with small red berries which was a staple food for hunting and gathering tribes in Northern China. It is an adaptogen, meaning that it helps balance the function of the body and increases resistance to stress.* Schisandra is stimulating, mentally and physically, and helps the body adapt to different situations.* It may also be able to support a healthy mood.* It is recommended for supporting the lungs, liver, and kidneys in traditional Chinese herbalism, and is used to prevent eye fatigue and increase acuity in Russia.* Schisandra contains lignans (schisandrins and gomisin A), B-bisabolene and vitamins. The lignans appear to help prevent liver damage, and stimulate normal functioning and repair of the liver, through the anti-oxidant properties of the schisandrins.
