DESCRIPTION

Shiitake mycelia extract is also know as Lentinus edodes mycelia extract. The mycelia of shiitake is the immature growing stage of the shiitake lifecycle. It grows as long threads and then is able to absorb and transform lignans and other nutrients in the wood or culture medium it is growing in, before creating the fruiting body we think of as a mushroom. Shiitake mycelia extract is valuable for supporting a healthy immune system and liver health.* Shiitake mycelia is rich in carbohydrates, protein, vitamins, and minerals. The polysacchardide protein complex, a new peptidomannan, KS-2, and a water solubilized lignin derivative, EPS-3, are key constituents of the extract.
